4 WAYS TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR PR

Over the past 6 years, social media has become an important part of most of the PR campaigns we run.

Whether for personal branding of the CEO or company founder, building brand awareness or launching new products and services, we believe social media is a vital part of the PR mix.

Here are 4 of our top tips for using social media for PR…

USE THE SHARE BUTTON

A great and effective way to use social media for PR is the share button. If you have a press release or blog post, add the social share button, whether it be Facebook, X or LinkedIn.

Adding these buttons allows consumers to share your press release/blog post, without you having to do all the work!. Additionally, you can embed social media links within your articles, which will drive traffic and increase engagement.

WORK WITH CONTENT CREATORS

Another great way is to partner with content creators. A great way to create PR for your business, and this also starts creating organic content and reviews. Be sure to look for more than just a big following. Authentic coverage and engaging accounts are much more beneficial to your brand than someone with 50,000 followers with no engagement.

Over time, this will bring you an audience that loves what you are doing, loves your brand, and you will have built a brand ambassadors team that sticks with you not only because you pay them, but also because they love your product.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY

You need to be consistent with social media. This involves regular posting, engaging and iterating with your followers and customers as quickly as possible. Have a schedule that isn’t too overbearing, so that you can consistently keep up the quality of your posts. It doesn’t matter if this is once or twice a week (you really don’t need to post every day), and be sure you engage 30 minutes after posting, as this is where the algorithm is at its highest!.

HASHTAGS

Hashtags are arguably great. Some PR agencies say they don’t do anything, but we truly believe they are vital, and can make or break some posts. If you find the right hashtag, it can be a great tool to boost a campaign.

A great tip is to search a few hashtags and see the reach of them. The best ones, take note of for future reference. Also look up any banned hashtags as these do alter regularly.
